Shawnieque

Hey, my name is Shawnieque. I'm 31 years old, married, and a mother of four beautiful children. Before I came to the Downtown Rescue Mission, I was a recovering addict trying to stay on the right track with God. However, I was losing hope due to all the odds stacked against me. 

I had been dealing with falsified drug screens, being in jail, DHR issues, and the enemy trying to sneak all of my past back into my life. But God stopped it all when He sent me to the Downtown Rescue Mission. I've gained so much from being here—through classes, devotionals, counseling, prayer, and staying in God's word. 

He has completely changed my mentality from one focused on survival and victimization to simply being grateful for everything He has given me while I walk the path God has laid out for me. I'm currently in my last step of the Owen's House Recovery Program, and I graduate in February! 

One of my favorite Bible verses is Psalms 23:1-3: "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake."
