The Downtown Rescue Mission’s community outreach is made up of two separate areas. The first area is directed towards local community residents. We not only serve those who come to stay on our campus. We also serve many families and individuals in our community who come to us for assistance. We provide weekly bags of food, a number of free community-wide events such as our Community Independence Day Picnic and Fall Festival, free clothing, turkey boxes for an entire Thanksgiving meal and toys for Christmas.
The second area of community outreach involves area organizations, schools and businesses. These entities currently can use any area of our facility at no cost for meetings, birthday parties, graduations, concerts and sporting events/practices. This year alone we have had a local high school use our soccer field for spring football practice and gym for home basketball games; multiple community businesses and churches use our fellowship hall for meetings and parties; community
organizations held conferences and meetings in our fellowship hall and library.
We intend on becoming even more involved in our community as the Lord opens more doors for us. Please be in prayer for us as an organization as the Lord continues to expand our territory and allow us to meet more needs throughout the coming months, both for our community and residents.
If you would like to use a specific area of our campus, please contact our Development Department at (256) 536-2441 ext. 316 or ext. 329.
