CHRISTMAS

Christmas at the Mission

ChristmasBeginning on December 1-2, families from our surrounding community can come to the Mission to apply to receive toys for their children for Christmas. Many more families took advantage of this opportunity last year due to our current economic climate.

We have an estimated 200 children from the community coming to the Mission to receive toys. In order to be eligible to receive the toys, parents and children must be in attendance during our Friday, December 23 Christmas Children’s Party, organized and executed by Mission staff and volunteers. The program has always been a wonderful experience that is fun for both adults and children of all walks of life.

It consists of crafts, food, music and a performance from a Christian magician, with the intent of teaching the Gospel message in an entertaining and creative way. After the program, families will receive their Christmas presents that have been bagged beforehand! Without the donation of these presents, many children would not receive anything for Christmas. If you or someone you know needs Christmashelp with toys for Christmas, call our office and we will tell you the time and what you need to bring with you.

Our staff Christmas party will be held on December 2 here at the Mission. This formal event takes places in our gymnasium, where employees and their guests sit down and enjoy a beautifully prepared meal.

This year employee departments will be competing against each other with skits and songs. Our President and Vice President are the special judges.

Our Mission Christmas festivities top off on Christmas Day. Volunteers come ready to serve a meal and love on every person who comes to eat. This holiday meal is a special time to encourage and invest in people who have lost hope in themselves or could not afford to eat anywhere else. Much like on Thanksgiving, guests are given the VIP treatment as volunteers wait on them just like they were eating at a restaurant.
