Throughout the year the Downtown Rescue Mission hosts a number of events with the goal of bringing joy to peoples’ lives as well as some sense of normalcy. We are able to host these events in large part because of our generous partners in ministry, who provide much of the food, decorations, eating utensils, giveaways and hands to serve. Without these partners, our events would not be as effective and successful as they have been each year.

“I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers.” The Apostle Paul penned these words when writing to the church in Ephesus (Ephesians 1:16). We at the Downtown Rescue Mission also echo these words to those who help at each of our yearly events. Thank you so much for giving your time, talents and resources to those who are living at our Mission and the community.

There is no greater feat in this world in reaching people, right where they are, for the cause of Christ. You do that when you give time and yourself to our Mission. Whether you blow up balloons, listen to a mother’s story or donate food and supplies, you are being Jesus’ hands and feet to people He loves. Ray Boltz sang a song called “Thank You For Giving To The Lord.” Below is an excerpt from the song. May the words resonate within your heart. Thank you again for being willing to volunteer at the Downtown Rescue Mission.

A missionary came to your church, His pictures made you cry.
