The Downtown Rescue Mission is a non-profit organization that was organized in 1975 to meet the physical and spiritual needs of the homeless through its Christian Ministries. Since that time the organization has been the major source of help and hope to the homeless of Huntsville, northern Alabama and southern Tennessee by providing food, clothing, shelter and education to homeless men, women and children in the name of Christ.
In March of 2009, the Downtown Rescue Mission relocated to 1400 Evangel Drive in Huntsville, Alabama. Its new facility is able to accommodate more individuals and families and provide each with a greater amount of Christ-centered programs and services. It formerly was Westminster Christian Academy and is comprised of 85,000 square feet on sixteen acres. The Lord continues to bless the Mission every day as it strives to be a safe haven of refuge and positive change.
